Election Week Self-Care Toolbox
In times of heightened stress and fear, mindfulness practices can go a long way in keeping you grounded and emotionally regulated. Remember that how you feel inside has everything to do with how you experience what’s happening around you. So if you are feeling a lack of control over the events of the world, shifting your internal experience will make things feel more manageable.
I’ve been thinking a lot about a few statistics I read in an article last week. In a recent poll, Harris and Trump supporters were equally fearful about the state of our democracy and both what will happen if their candidate loses, as well as what may happen if they win. That’s a lot of fear and whatever “side” you land on, your fear is being felt equally by the other! Reading that definitely turned the dial up on my empathy and compassion for the millions of people in the U.S. who are really suffering through this election cycle!
Personally, I have been working with my own fear and grief these days. And what I know is that when I’m feeling afraid, I don’t see or think clearly which also means that there are millions of people like me, not seeing and thinking clearly right now. It is times like these that we can lean into our mindfulness practices to find our ground.
Luckily, I have a pretty good toolbox at the ready and I’d love to share a few resources with you.

***Spoiler alert... Inside the toolbox, you'll find 2 guided meditations, a free membership trial and a couple of general suggestions including this one:
Consider what’s unchangingly good!
Acknowledge 3 things in your life that are wonderful and will not change based on the results of this election. Take a moment - maybe even right now if you have a minute - to call up a few things that are unchangeably nourishing and connecting and grounding in your life and really sit with the knowing that they will still be there for you, regardless of what happens on November 5.
And finally, if you are thinking more long term, and are interested in joining me on retreat in Southern Spain next year, March 17-23, 2025 let me know. You'll find more details here.
As always, if I can answer any questions, don't hesitate to reach out. It is hard to be a human in the world right now. If you'd like to share how you are feeling, I'd love to listen.
With so much love,
Rachel
